هر چاپگر سه بعدی به سه عنصر نیاز دارد : مقداری اطلاعات، مقداری ماده اولیه و مقداری انرژی و می تواند هر شیء که پیش از این وجود نداشته را تولید کند.
همه مادران نیز سه عامل اصلی را دریافت می کنند : ذره ای اطلاعات که در این مورد بین پدر و مادرم است، مواد خام و انرژی در همین رابطه که مواد خوراکی است و بعد از چند ماه ما به وجود می آییم. در ضمن پیش از آن وجود خارجی نداشتیم.

برای ساختن یک انسان چه مقدار اطلاعات لازم است؟ خیلی زیاد؟ خیلی کم؟ با آن چند فلش مموری را می توان پر کرد؟
خب، اوایل من فیزیک مطالعه می کردم و من یک انسان را به صورت یک لگوی بزرگ فرض کردم. بنابراین فرض کنید هر قطعه یک اتم است.
فایلی که تعداد اتم های یک کودک را روی فلش مموری برزم در حقیقت یک کشتی تایتانیک را از فلش مموری پر خواهد کرد ضرب در 2000 این است معجزه زندگی.
از الان هر زن بارداری را دیدید او در حال سر هم کردن عظیم ترین میزان اطلاعاتی است که به عمرتان دیده اید.

راه حلی وجود دارد، کسی که برای اولین بار این کدها را مرتب کرد ( دکتر کریگ ونتر )، برای اولین بار در تاریخ این نقشه ژنتیکی یک انسان ویژه است. که صفحه به صفحه و حرف چاپ شده است. دویست و شصت و دو هزار صفحه اطلاعات و چهارصد و پنجاه کیلو گرم با کشتی از آمریکا به کاادا حمل شده است. که در زندگی به صورت بصری به این شکل نمایان می شود.
AAG,AAT,ATA: برای شما این حروف بی معنا هستند اما این توالی حروف، یک رنگ چشم را برای کریگ مشخص می کنند.
ATT,CTT,GATT: این یک انسان خوش شانس است زیرا اگر کسی دو حرف در این موقعیت کم داشته باشد، دو حرف از 3میلیارد، محکوم به تحمل بیماری وحشتناکی به نام به نام سیستیک فیبروزیس می شود. درمان و راه حلی برای این بیماری نمی دانیم و با آنچه هستیم فقط دو حرف فرق داریم.
